TRAINING GUIDELINES:
  1. 'Yes response' Start by training your pendulum to give you the 'YES' response, Hold the cord lightly between your thumb and forefinger, Then ask the pendulum to show you its 'YES' swing.  you can either ask out loud or mentally, then start to swing the pendulum.  Watch its swing settle into a specific pattern, such as an even, clockwise rotation.  Now repeat the exercise.  Ideally, the pendulum will behave in the same way as before.  If it doesn't , you must stop it and try again.  It is very important to let the pendulum know that you're in charge.  Continue this exercise until you always get the same movement for 'YES'...

    2.  'NO' Response, Now repeat the exercise, but ask for the 'NO' response.  You use exactly              same technique as for the 'YES' response, but you're now looking for a different swing.              For instance, if 'YES' is an even, clockwise swing.  'NO' might be an elliptical,                              anticlockwise swing.  You need these two swings to be noticeably different so that you can          tell which is which...

3  'SEARCH AND SILLY QUESTION RESPONSES' Continue like this for the 'Search' is            often a wide swing, as though the pendulum is feeling for the desired object in space.  'Silly        question' is often an indeterminate,  undeceive  swing...

4   When you have determined all four responses, you can begin to refine your pendulum                  techniques.  ask the pendulum to give you one response, such as 'NO', then ask it to change        its swing to 'YES'.  The more you practise working with your pendulum like this, the better       your abilities  will be and the more effective the pendulum will become...

TRAINING YOUR PENDULUM:

When you first start to use a pendulum you must train it to react in the way you want, so that you will know what it is telling you.  You must therefore train it to give you 'Yes', and  'No', Silly question and search response.  The first two responses are self-evident, and 'search' will tell you that the pendulum is busy looking for whatever you have asked it to find.

Silly question might seem unnecessary, but actually its very helpful.  You need to know when you have asked your pendulum a question that it cant answer, otherwise you might misinterpret its response.  For instance, if you ask the pendulum a multiple-choice question, such as 'Is coffee or tea better for me?', it cant answer and will respond with 'Silly question', You will have to break your question into two halves in order to get a proper answer from the pendulum.  Sometimes you will get 'Silly question' for reasons that you cant fathom.  When this happens, it is either because the pendulum is not cooperating with you (in which case you need to keep working with it until it does) or because the question has already been answered on ways that you don't yet realize.

DOWSING:
Dowsing, also knows as 'dividing', is one of the oldest skills known to humans. It is very simple.
but remarkably effective, Dowsing is used by water companies to detect leaks in pipes, by oil companies to locate new reserves of oil and other mineral deposits, and by chicken- sexers who process chicks (using the swing of the pendulum to determine their sex) at a remarkable speed. It can also be used in every day life to track down missing items or to receive answers to question. In fact, dowsing is immensely versatile. You can even use it to discover which foods are good for you.
HOW DO YOU DOWSE?
Dowsing is easily practiced with a pendulum, although you can also use a pair of dowsing rods. The dowsing instrument reacts in a previously specified way when it locates whatever it is searching for. A pendulum, for example, might start to rotate in a clockwise direction and a pair of dowsing rods might jerk upwards or cross each other. If you have very sensitive chakras in your hands, you may find that you are able to dispense with a pendulum or dowsing rods completely and use your hands instead.
USING A PENDULUM:
The pendulum can be made from Brass, Wood, or Crystal, and is suspended by a piece of cord or string. It doesn't matter what the pendulum is made from, provided it is symmetrical (so as not to distort the swing) and heavy enough to oscillate properly and gain a good momentum. You need a long enough piece of cord or string to enable the pendulum to move easily. As with the other psychic tools, choose the pendulum that feels right for you.
